MUA CAVE

Take a walk to visit the 130-year-old Phát Diệm Stone Cathedral, often referred to as the “Catholic Capital.” This architectural masterpiece seamlessly blends Eastern and Western influences. Designed with square towers and curved roofs reminiscent of traditional Northern Vietnamese communal houses
and pagodas, its bell tower (Phương Đình) resembles a village pavilion. The cathedral’s bells feature inscriptions in Chinese characters, Latin, and Vietnamese script, along with motifs representing the four seasons. From the bell tower, you can take in a panoramic view of the main church and five surrounding smaller churches. Guided tours offer insight into each church within the complex, as well as the surrounding landscape, including stone caves and ponds.
PHAT DIEM TILED BRIDGE
Evening: Enjoy free time to explore the charming town. Take a stroll to admire the Phat Diem Tiled Bridge, which spans the An River. his historic bridge, around 120 years old, boasts unique architecture and is one of Vietnam’s oldest and most distinctive wooden bridges. Recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic, it stands as a symbol of Kim Son, Ninh Binh.

SO KIEN CHURCH
The bus and tour guide will pick you up at your hotel for a 70km journey to Sở Kiện Church, one of only four Vietnamese structures recognized by the Vatican as a Minor Basilica due to its grand scale and unique architecture. Sở Kiện is Vietnam’s only church designed as a cathedral complex in the Italian Duomo style, featuring the main cathedral, a bishop’s residence, and a seminary. Built in 1887, it once served as Vietnam’s Catholic capital before this role was transferred to Hanoi’s St. Joseph’s Cathedral in 1936.
CHAU SON MONASTERY

Travel to Châu Sơn Monastery, located in Phú Sơn Commune, Nho Quan District, Ninh Bình Province. Often compared to a Western cathedral, this monastery exudes ancient, noble, and solemn beauty. Built in 1939 against the backdrop of a mountain, this Cistercian monastery captivates visitors with its Gothic-style architecture, striking orange brick walls, and a magnificent 21-meter-high white dome. Its expansive campus is beautifully landscaped, reminiscent of a garden from the Palace of Versailles in France.

TON DAO PARISH CHURCH
Then board the bus to Ninh Bình city center and visit Tôn Đạo Parish Church, a historic church over 100 years old. The church features impressive dimensions, measuring 52 meters in length, 25 meters in width, and crowned by a striking 35-meter-high hexagonal bell tower. On the third floor of the tower, three bells hang, each connected to a pulley system. From the top, the church resembles a European masterpiece set against the backdrop of Northern Vietnam’s vast rice fields. Enjoy the cool countryside breeze as you capture stunning photos of this European-style cathedral.

Mesurant 52 m de long et 25 m de large, l’église se distingue par son clocher hexagonal de 35 m de haut. Au troisième étage, trois grandes cloches sont suspendues, accompagnées de roues à cordes permettant de les faire sonner. Depuis ce promontoire, l’église apparaît comme un chef-d’œuvre européen au cœur des rizières du Nord du Vietnam. PHUC NHAC PARISH CHURCH

Phúc Nhạc is an ancient land located in Yên Khánh District, Ninh Bình Province. Phúc Nhạc Parish was established in 1790, with the presence of the Lovers of the Holy Cross congregation dating back to 1788.

TU THUC CAVE
